Frequently Asked Questions

List below is a small selection of frequently asked questions.

New Machinery

AMP are always willing to provide independent advice whether in our shop, over the phone or by visiting your property.  A site visit is particularly important when considering a major purchase such as a lawn tractor or robotic mower to avoid the expense mistake of getting the wrong machine.  AMP will carry out site visits on a no obligation and no fee basis.

Battery technology has improved in the garden industry immeasurably in recent years.  A key point to ensure is that the product being purchased is using Lithium Ion battery technology which keeps its power for typically over 1,000 charging cycles.  The quality of product is now such that there is a good range of hand held machines (hedge trimmer, chainsaws, strimmers) which are robustly built to suit all domestic users and well as many commercial.  These machines will typically have a lower cost of ownership (initial cost + fuel + maintenance) over their life than comparable petrol machines.

Manufacturers are heavily investing in developing robotic mowers and there is now a wide range of these machines available in the market.  These machines are great for many gardens and certainly should be considered where the area to be cut is up to a couple of acres however they will not suit all gardens and specialist advice should be sought.  A key point to keep in mind is the availability of back up support should things go wrong and this is where AMP would be able to help with machines it supplies.

All petrol machines supplied by AMP come ready to use and full instruction on their use is provided at the point they are supplied and thereafter is available telephonically or in our shop.

Hire

Yes, AMP will, however, levy a carriage charge based on distance to cover our costs, call us to discuss.

For longer hire periods AMP is always willing to look at adding new machines to its hire fleet to meet customer needs, call us to discuss.

Servicing

In these situations AMP charges a fixed inspection fee of £30 (inc VAT) for which the machine is either repaired or a quote for its repair is provided so that a sensible decision can be made on whether to repair the machine or not.

Customers whose own machine is in AMP workshop receive a 50% discount when hiring a similar machine from the hire fleet.

AMP is an independent dealer and so is not tied to a single brand and so is able to repair most mainstream brands where parts are available.  Please keep in this mind when buying a new machine since sadly some importers bring machines into the UK without organising the supply of the inevitable spare parts which the machine will require.  AMP is able to source spare parts for all the machines which it sells.
